It’s a good time to consider buying a cool flask. Yeah, you may have that one flask you got for being in your friend’s wedding party, but do you really want to rep Tony and Kate’s 2014 nuptials every time you hit a socially distanced backyard gathering? Probably not. It’s time for an upgrade. Below are some well-designed practical flasks you won’t be embarrassed to pull out.

Izola Canvas Flask

The stainless-steel body and the canvas pouch give this flask a very outdoorsy look. Okay, not backpacking-level outdoors, but at the very least it’s suitable for glamping. The colorful matte finish strikes the right playful-subtle balance.

Bracelet Flask

This bangle flask can only hold a single shot of liquor, so it’s definitely more of an emergency spiking device than a practical way to bring booze on the go. But hey, emergencies happen, right? And while at first you might think its design is a bit gimmicky, it’s actually based on a 19th-century hip flask design.

A6 Memo Bottle

Did you know that the U.S. uses a different standardized set of paper sizes compared to the rest of the world? Because of course we do. Anyway, I mention this because this flask is the same dimensions of an A6 sheet of paper. If that doesn’t mean anything to you, no worries. It’s slim, lightweight, and can hold 12 ounces of liquid.

RBT Flask

The RBT flask is thoughtfully designed for discreet transport and use. It has gold-painted details and a silicone exterior that makes it easy to grip. Its smoky plastic lid conveniently snaps on to the bottom so you don’t have to worry about losing it.

Brümate Liquor Canteen

The opposite of discreet, Brümate flasks are shaped like old gas canisters and come in punchy, multicolored silicone exteriors. The interior is stainless steel, but Brümate uses a special coating to keep beverages from developing a metallic aftertaste.

Odeme Aqua Flask

Due to its ovoid shape and pastel color, the Odeme flask doesn’t immediately come across as a flask, which is ideal for anybody who isn’t comfortable carrying one around. Slip it into a purse or coat pocket and nobody is the wiser.

Areaware Liquid Body Flask

A sort of trompe l’oeil design, the Areaware flask looks like a malleable bag, but it is actually cast stainless steel. While the design itself is more decorative than functional, it’s still slim enough to fit into a pocket.

Snow Peak Titanium Flask

The price point for this flask, produced by Japanese outdoor company Snow Peak, has much to do with the fact that it is made of titanium instead of steel. Titanium is more durable than steel and has the added benefit of not altering the taste of liquids it comes in contact with. If you are someone who wants to take your best scotch with you to a party, this is the vessel to use.

Needlepoint Surfer Flask

Depending on the design, a needlepoint flask can easily come across as very “country-club-Connecticut-uses-summer-as-a-verb.” Occasionally, though, you can find one like this hand-stitched model with a surfer motif, which feels cheeky in a Jonathan Adler sort of way—and is thus a little more universal.
