But now, on with the October Prime Day deals.
Semi-automatic espresso machine deals
If we asked you to imagine an espresso maker you’d probably picture a semi-auto machine. These are the coffee machines that use a long-handled portafilter, which you load up with coffee grounds yourself. Some offer the option to automatically brew a shot, some require you to both start and stop the process. They also include separate steam wands and milk jugs for your flat whites and the like. Breville makes a lot of machines we like and it seems like almost the entire line is on sale for Prime Day, but there are some other good machines too, like the De’longhi La Specialista Arte.
Fully automatic espresso machine deals
If you aren’t familiar with the different types of espresso makers, fully automatic, sometimes called “super automatic” machines are the easiest to understand: They make espresso shots, lattes, and cappuccinos with the push of a single button. That means no work for you. They all have built-in grinders that will freshly grind your beans, an automatic tamping system, and usually entirely automatic milk frothers that can steam milk correctly (and differently) depending on which drink you choose. They don’t offer much opportunity to truly customize a shot of espresso, but there are few easier ways to make a cup of coffee. For Prime Day you can find solid machines from brands like Philips and De’Longhi on sale.
Other espresso equipment
Unless you go the fully automatic route you’ll need a few things besides an espresso maker, like a coffee grinder, a tamper, and a knock box. Check those out below.
Nespresso machines
We’re including Nespresso machines in here because we think they’re a good solution for people who want to drink espresso (or something like it), but want neither the work of a semi-auto machine nor the price tag of a fully automatic one. Nespressos single serve set up can do single shots, double shots, ristretto shots, and, with the help of its Aerocinno milk frother, a number of other drinks as well.
