Robert Hess is world-renowned as one of the pioneers of the current cocktail revival, and was included in the list of “The 25 Most Influential Cocktail Personalities of the Past Century” by Imbibe magazine. In 2005, Hess co-founded The Museum of the American Cocktail (now a project of the Southern Food & Beverage Museum in New Orleans). The museum seeks to preserve the history of cocktails, and celebrate cocktail culture in America. He is featured inA Proper Drinkby Robert Simonson as one of the people who played an important role in establishing the craft-cocktail movement.
