Katy Perry gave her fans their first taste of her rumored new song, "Bon Appétit," on Monday when she emailed a recipe for the "World's Best Cherry Pie" in a fan newsletter. The recipe is believed to beteasing lyricsfrom the upcoming song (lines like "This pie is gonna hit that sweet tooth, boy," and "Calm those hungry eyes," are woven into the pie-making instructions), but the otherwise innocuous ingredient list contains a fatal flaw.

It calls for sweet cherries. Sweet ones. Not tart, sour Montmorency cherries, the only ones—as far as we're concerned—that should be used to makecherry pie. "Sweet cherries are salad ingredients, they go in clafoutis and crumbles and they flavor ice creams,"notes writer and former professional pie maker Sam Worley. "Tart cherries belong in pie."

Whether that was an intentional, or significant, choice by Katy remains to be seen. (What do you have against sour cherries, Katy?!??) The dessert recipe is the latest in a string of teases from the pop star about her new music. In February 2016, Katy first toldE! Newsat the Grammys about the song "Bon Appétit." "I have one song called 'Bon Appétit' that I love," she said. She then gave fans their first listen when she posted a clip on her Instagram story in March.

"Bon Appétit" follows the first single"Chained to the Rhythm"from her upcoming, untitled album—along with the powerful, chanting lyrics of an unnamed song she previewed on Instagram in March. We're excited to hear the rest of it. But we'll be sticking with our own recipe when it comes to pie-baking.
