Move over, baby avocados: Kiwi berries are here to take over the title of "world's most adorable healthy snack."

The miniature fruit is, basically, a kiwi the size of a berry, without the annoying task of having to peel before you eat,Delishreports. On the inside, they look like kiwis, with that fruit's signature green flesh and black seeds. But on the outside, instead of being covered in that throat-itch-inducing fur, they're surrounded with a thin, edible skin similar to that of a grape. The baby berries are reportedly sweeter and more acidic than their grown-up cousins, and have attained superfood status thanks to loads of vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin E, and potassium.

Kiwi berries, otherwise known asActinidia arguta, are native to northern areas of Asia, such as China, Siberia, and Japan, which have cooler climates that allow the fruit to flourish. Apparently, the teeny-tiny treats have also been growing in the northeastern United States since the 1870s, but no one has tried to take them mainstream until now, according toDelish.

Researchers across the country (along with private companies) "are choosing to capitalize on America's newfound obsession with all things natural," saysDelish, and are doing their part to try to make kiwi berries a part of people's daily diets à la the rest of the berry family (raspberries, blueberries, snozzberries, etc). Considering the whole no-peeling thing, they're incredibly easy to eat and arguably make an even better healthy snack than the OG kiwis.

Sadly, the precious little green nuggets aren't widely available just yet, so for now, you'll be stuck salivating over them on your Instagram feeds. But considering the success of other adorably nutritious (and highly photogenic) "Frankenfruits" likepink pineapples, baby avos, andcotton-candy grapes, it wouldn't be that surprising to see kiwi berries dominating the produce aisle in the very near future. Better hit the grocery store with a fully charged phone next time, just in case.
