Vanilla Sugar

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups sugar
1 coarsely chopped vanilla bean
  1. Step 1

    Blend sugar and vanilla bean in processor until bean is finely ground. Store in covered container at room temperature at least 2 days, then strain through fine strainer before using.

    Step 2

    Vanilla sugar will keep for several months. Use the leftovers in other baked goods, in your morning cup of coffee, or sprinkled over yogurt.

  • I couldn't imagine not having vanilla sugar in the kitchen. It's been a staple in the house for years! I split and scrape out the vanilla beans and put the seeds and the sugar in the food procerror. I leave the outer bean whole in the container for the duration of the storage of the sugar.
