Ice Cream Sundaes with Chocolate-Coffee Sauce

Kate makes the chocolate sauce with homemade liqueur.

Ingredients

Makes 10 servings

6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoonsHomemade Coffee-Flavored Liqueuror Kahlúa plus additional for passing
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 gallon purchased vanilla ice cream
  1. Step 1

    Combine chocolate, liqueur, and whipping cream in heavy small saucepan. Whisk over medium heat until melted and smooth.

    Step 2

    Scoop ice cream into dessert dishes or goblets. Spoon warm sauce over. Serve, passing additional liqueur.

  • Ah, true decadence!! I used Kahlua instead of making the coffee flavoring from scratch and used half vanilla and half coffee ice cream. Truly a comfort food!
