Kick is the right word to describe this golden cocktail, which underscores the shot of ginger liqueur with ginger syrup and lemon.

Ingredients

Makes 6 drinks

1 cup plus 1 tablespoon vodka
6 ounces (3/4 cup) Domaine de Canton (ginger liqueur)
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 (1-liter) bottle soda water or seltzer, chilled
Garnish: candied ginger (see recipe at gourmet.com or use store-bought); lemon wedges
  1. Step 1

Stir together ginger syrup, vodka, ginger liqueur, and lemon juice in a pitcher.

    Step 2

Divide among 6 (10-ounces) Old Fashioned glasses filled with ice. Top off with soda water. Spear a few slices candied ginger onto each of 6 wooden picks and add to drinks, then garnish with lemon wedges.

  • Uncomplicated, gingery, and awesome. I used less than the full amount of syrup, but still got great ginger flavor without being too sweet (for me). Agree that it is (or will be) a great summer drink.

  • I read this recipe and thought it may taste a bit too much like the alcohol or ginger for my liking, but was pleasantly surprised when it tasted gingery (but not too much) and refreshing! The soda water made it a perfect spring/summer drink. The ginger syrup wasn't too hard- I made it the night prior and kept it refrigerated until mixing the drink before the party. EVERYONE loved it!!!

  • This is very good. I made this with the syrup listed & time allowing I don't think I'd do it any other way.. I don't know how that compairs w/ a commercial syrup but, I can't imagine it would taste as fresh as this did. In fact I'm about to make this again.

  • Had many bottles of Canton left over from a party and tried this out. Used Ginger People's ginger syrup rather than making my own. We liked the result but felt it would work best as a summer refresher - not an autumnal cocktail, despite the ginger.
