Epi's Newest Recipes: Tea and Cake Edition

Warning: "tea time"usuallysuggests something elegant and light, but these recipes make the afternoon respite markedly more decadent.

Tea—the event, not the drink—seems like a springtime affair, right? That's what I thought when I was looking through our newest recipes. I was perhaps unduly inspired by my cohort Kat'slove letter to Golden Milk, which isn't tea exactly but is rather a blend of coconut milk, cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, honey, and a few other delicious things.

Now, if you're me, you're going to balance this healthy, restorative drink with something sort of sinful and carby. This banana bread works, and get this—it's made with butter pecan ice cream. (I don't think you get it yet: The ice cream is bakedintothe bread!)

Butter pecan ice cream bread isn't decadent enough? Okay, try this: A rich, velvety chocolate tart based on that classic Easter candy, the Cadbury Creme Egg.

Finally, deviled eggs. Because no proper tea is complete without them (I think—but I'm not British, so what do I know?). This egg salad has all of the flavor of deviled eggs, but none of the fuss. Plus, it was the one thing all afternoon teas require: Cute triangular slices of pumpernickel.
