Balsamic Hoisin Sauce

Ingredients

Makes about 1 1/2 cups

1 1/2 cups balsamic vinegar
3/4 cup hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  1. Step 1

    Simmer vinegar, hoisin sauce, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a small heavy saucepan, uncovered, stirring frequently, until reduced to about 1 1/2 cups, 20 to 25 minutes.

    Step 2

    Remove from heat and stir in butter until melted.

  • Maybe not amazing, but still pretty good and gets bonus points for the fact that you probably have everything in the pantry already. I made this as part of a trio of asian-ish wing sauces. It wasn't THE sauce of the night, but it was well received. Worth trying once at least, as I think many people would really like.
