  • Not only is a Manhattan made with rye whiskey, but the recipe here is much too sweet! The proper ratio of whiskey to vermouth is four to one, i.e. for one cup of whiskey use one-fourth cup of vermouth.

  • A proper Manhattan is made with rye, not bourbon. This variation is good, but not true to the original recipe. Different vermouths certainly give different results. Having said that, this is still one of the world’s iconic cocktails (with rye, of course!)

  • 我还没有试过这个配方和一个d have never responded on a review with out trying one until now. Over time, I have read the numerous reviews from people who respond to recipes without even trying them and in their all knowing ignorance feel free to blast negatively on a recipe based on their omniscient wisdom. If I were a Epicurious, I would not post a review, whether it be a food or beverage recipe unless that person made it exactly as it was presented. Then, if a person chose to make it another way, then post it. John Palagyi

  • We have been using a sweet vermouth that is far superior in taste by the name of ANTICA FORMULA , an Italian vermouth. You will never use anything else.
