This light fish entrée gets a flavor boost from a citrus glaze made from fresh lemon juice, orange juice, and fresh ginger. For stronger, more acidic flavor, add lemon zest and additional juice. Make sure to use a high-quality 100 percent orange juice that is freshly squeezed (not from concentrate).

Ingredients

Makes 4 servings

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 pound tilapia fillets
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice or high-quality store-bought orange juice
1 lemon, zested and juiced
1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  1. Step 1

    1. On a plate, combine the flour and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Lightly dredge the tilapia in the flour.

    Step 2

    2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the oil and butter. When the butter has melted, add the fish and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side, or until golden and just cooked through. Remove the fish and set aside.

    Step 3

    3. Add the orange juice, 2 tablespoons of the lemon juice, and the ginger to the skillet. Increase the heat and simmer for 1 to 2 minutes, or until thickened, stirring occasionally. Taste and add lemon zest or more lemon juice if necessary. Return the fish to the skillet, coat with sauce, and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, or until heated through.

  • Perfect recipe.I enjoined it very much. However I am baffled by the negatives, probably is a matter of taste as I really like lemony dishes ,the more the better.

  • This is so easy and surprisingly flavor for having so few ingredients. I did not dredge the fish in flour before sauteeing -- no need. I make it just as the recipe described, using all the juice of the whole lemon. This is dinner party worthy!

  • One of the tastiest and easiest fish dishes I have ever made, and we eat a lot of fish! Recipe needed no tweaking at all.

  • Easy, full of flavor, and healthy. It's a real winner. I made no adjustments to the recipe and loved it! Served it with a side of roasted asparagus and a grape tomato, basil, and avocado salad with white balsamic and basil olive oil. Can't wait to have it again!

  • I'm 14 and I made this, it was very good and my whole family liked it (my two younger brothers, and my parents) the breading fell off a little bit in the frying pan so it wasent really crispy like I was hoping for. My youngest brother was scared to try it because I made it, but he ended up liking it ¿¿. Definitely will make again

  • I loved this dish, but not without first making a few changes. I added extra ginger, and I also added 3/4 C of dry white wine. Served the fish atop a bed of garlic couscous ( sautéed honey glazed, as well).

  • I have to admit, this was super easy and I even juiced my own oranges and lemon. Did not have fresh ginger so I used 1/8 tsp ground. Would probably use fresh or 1/4 tsp next time. The fish was moist and tender, the glaze was just enough. It was a nice change from my regular pan fried fish. I did cook it a little longer because the fish was partially frozen. I will make this again.

  • Perfect weeknight dinner - so simple and yummy. Should have read reviews and doubled the sauce, but it got rave reviews with my family anyway. Did saute some garlic in the pan before adding the juices, as we can't get enough garlic.

  • This has become one of our favorite quick dinner recipes. We keep fish filets in the freezer. So this is always a welcome easy meal. We double the sauce and add a bit more lemon for our taste.

  • This is a very good recipe for the family. It is simple and very fast to make which is a huge plus for during the week cooking. I'm not sure that I would serve it to company only because when I entertain I like things that have a bit more zing to them.
