This thick, savory sauce is inspired by Papa John's breadstick-dipping sauce. But this one is made with real butter, so it tastes even more delicious.

Ingredients

1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cubed
2 teaspoons garlic powder
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  1. Bring 1 Tbsp. water to a boil in a small saucepan, then reduce to a simmer. Add cubes of butter one at a time, whisking after each addition, until melted and emulsified. Whisk in salt and garlic powder. Serve immediately or keep warm over low heat.

  • I can never have too much garlic in anything! But this was definitely a good WASTE of real butter. Maybe I'll try again using real grated garlic & a little chicken broth instead of water. But then that would be my own recipe so I'll go with that as this was not good at all!

  • WAY too much garlic powder. Tasted like straight garlic. Definitely not a creamy consistency like a store bought pizza dip would be. At the very least, halve the garlic powder for this.

  • I'm confused. How do you boil 1 TBS of water? Wouldn't that dry burn the pan? I'm at a two rating until I learn more.

  • I dislike the taste of garlic powder. I whisk several garlic cloves, salt and enough olive oil to create a creamy consistency in my blender and get a better tasting sauce. Butter could be used, too, but I think olive oil is better for italian dishes.
