Apple Martini

"While staying at the Rio hotel in Las Vegas, I went up to the VooDoo Café & Lounge," writes Adam Lantheaume of Billerica, Massachusetts. "I highly recommend the view; from 51 stories up, it is spectacular. I also recommend the apple Martini, which I've been trying to make at home for friends. Can you help?"

If you prefer shaken Martinis, simply fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes and add half of the liquid ingredients. Shake, and strain into three Martini glasses; repeat with remaining ingredients. (The Rio uses DeKuyper brand Sour Apple Pucker for the schnapps.)

Ingredients

Serves 6

Ice cubes
2 cups sweet-and-sour mix
1 1/2 cups vodka
1 1/2 cups sweet and sour apple schnapps
1 Granny Smith apple, sliced (optional)
  1. Fill pitcher halfway with ice cubes. Add sweet-and-sour mix, vodka and Sour Apple Pucker and stir well to combine. Push apple slices onto rims of Martini glasses, if desired. Strain mixture into Martini glasses and serve immediately.

  • Nade this for a coctail party and it was a big hit with the girls! It tastes like an apple jolly rancher, but you definately have to be careful because they will sneek up on you and then you will be three sheets to the wind!

  • This is the best Apple Martini recipe I have ever tasted!!! I have played around with the ratios a bit to taste. I use Holland House Whiskey Sour Mix and you must have a premium Vodka. I premix and then place in the freezer and it comes out like an Apple Martini slush - great for summer! Mmmmmm!

  • I love Appletinis, and I use "Rose's Cocktail Infusions", sold at Safeway...so easy and tastes great mixed with a "Citrus" flavored vodka of your choice. Also comes in Blue Rasberry and Cranberry, all three flavors are "ono", as we say in Hawaii, meaning fabulous! Aloha

  • This drink was a big hit on a skiing weekend with my girlfriends. I make my own sweet and sour mix (two parts fresh lemon juice to one part simple syrup) which keeps the flavors bright.

  • Sour mix makes this taste like window washing fluid, if you ask me. Leave out the mix, and add just a splash of cranberry. Definitely use the apple pucker.
