Back to TopI halved the amount of sugar. The dried fruit provided enough sweetness for me. The dates I got from Bella Viva Orchards actually tasted a bit like brown sugar. http://www.bellaviva.com/pitted-dates

I used apricots, figs and pistachios and made my own pastry. The filling was delicious and served with the yogurt and fresh orange peel on a stone board looked rustic elegant.

Add dried apricots and 1/3c apricot reserves for more moisture.

I have made this recipe twice over the Christmas Holiday & it was a great hit. Very easy to make & perfect dessert for this time of the year.

I was expecting this to be more moist, but it wasn't, so the second time I added dried apricots and added 1/3 cup of apricot preserves to the egg mixture and then it was truly delicious!
