When we're not drinking Manhattans, we'll take an Old Pal. Usually made with rye, we prefer it with bourbon (the higher the proof, the better).

Ingredients

Makes 1

3 tablespoons rye or bourbon
2 tablespoons Campari
2 tablespoons dry vermouth
1 orange twist
  1. Combine the first 3 ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and stir until shaker becomes frosty. Strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with orange twist.

  • Who uses tablespoons to measure drink ingredients? You don't have a shot glass that's marked ½ oz, ¾ oz, 1 oz, 1½oz, & 2 oz? You should invest in one! The drink's fine, though I prefer the boulevardier, made with dry white vermouth instead of the red.
