  1. Combine 3 1/2 cups watermelon pieces, frozen + 1/2"-thick jalapeño slice, with seeds + 6 ounces tequila blanco + 4 ounces simple syrup + 2 ounces fresh lime juice + 3 cups ice optional garnish: Watermelon wedges and sliced jalapeños.

Cook's Note

Head to the farmers' market for peak-season fruit. Freeze the fruit in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet until solid. Purée ingredients in a blender until smooth and very thick. Divide among glasses and serve.

Cold Facts:

The drier the ice, the better. Melting ice makes for a watery cocktail.

No need to upgrade your blender. The old one will do the trick just fine.

Texture Matters:

Frozen drinks should look too thick when poured into the glass. They will loosen immediately.

  • 很好吃!口味平衡,通常,depending on the spiciness of the jalapeño. Came out rather thick not sure if that meant it needed more ice, or less. I halved the syrup, using agave syrup because I didn't want to take the time to make simple syrup (I know, it's not that big of a deal!). Also used a few more ounces of tequila, because I wanted to taste that, too. I only marked it 3 stars because I made changes.

  • This is our 2016 go to summer cocktail. Only substitution is date syrup for simple syrup and we use all frozen watermelon-no ice.

  • I made this last summer and it was fantastic! The jalapeno doesn't make it spicy, which I expected, but does keep the drink from being too sweet from the watermelon. I'm looking forward to making it again this summer.
