Back to TopI thought this was a great recipe. I used frozen mango so it didn't need ice, about a teaspoon of Turmeric powder instead of the other spices, and substituted vanilla almond milk for regular milk, just because I needed to use it up. Great mango flavor with subtle hints of vanilla and spice in the background. Will definitely be making this again.

Ignore the first review of this recipe. This is a very tasty, yet healthy interpretation of a traditional Indian mango lassi, which normally would have a lot of sugar added and use whole milk yogurt. This recipe uses honey and nonfat yogurt instead. It's not nearly as heavy as the traditional lassi, but the sweetness and spice is still there. I thought it tasted great as is, but the first review complains about the spice. So you may want to experiment with the amount of spice that works before adding the full 1/8 teaspoon cardamom. I also made this with 1 1/2 cups frozen mango, left out the ice cubes and increased the milk. This worked fine and is great when mangos are out of season or the ones at your grocery store are not very flavorful. I also tried rice milk instead of regular 1% milk and it tasted fine.

I felt that the cardamom overwhelmed the other flavors and I could barely taste the mango.
