Tomato Fried Rice

Cooking rice in big batches is like giving a gift to your future self; tossed with tiny tomatoes, leftovers become tonight’s dinner in minutes.

Baked Tomatoes, Peppers, and Goat Cheese

This savory-sweet dish is decorated with soft cheese and a hint of garlic. Served over a crispy baguette, it’s the perfect summer lunch, midday snack, or party appetizer.

Tomato Salad with Pine Nuts and Pomegranate Molasses

The secret weapon in this summery salad is the golden raisins: They're soaked in apple cider vinegar, which not only sweetens the vinegar but also transforms them into plump, sweet-tart balloons.

Meatball Frittata with Mozzarella and Tomatoes

There may be no better way to stretch odds and ends around the kitchen than to make a frittata: there’s no crust to fuss with, the eggy matrix can handle almost any savory inclusions, and the frittata itself can be enjoyed hot or at room temperature.

Make-Ahead Chicken Freezer Packets

Imagine this: a stack of packets in your freezer that you can take straight to the oven for a full dinner in 30 minutes.

Sheet-Pan Chicken with Tomatoes and Mozzarella

Call it "Pizza Chicken" and the whole family will love this fresh take on those classic Italian-American flavors in one-pan chicken dinner form.

Flatbread Caprese

Top-of-season cherry tomatoes and fresh mozzarella turn flatbread—either homemade or store-bought pizza dough—into a refreshing, delicious summer appetizer.

Skirt Steak and Horseradish Potato Salad

This gorgeous summer salad contains all the elements of a balanced meal—meat, starch, and veggies.

Spinach-Artichoke Flatbread Pizzas

Using flatbread as the foundation for these pizzas ensures a crispy crust that you can feel good about devouring. In this recipe, I finish the pizzas with a balsamic reduction: Balsamic vinegar cooked down to a sweet, gooey glaze to drizzle over your flatbread toppings. It’s like the “icing on the pizza”!

BLT Casserole

Plenty of bacon and a quick trip under the broiler adds salty, smoky crunch to this cheeky casserole version of the classic sandwich.

Easy One-Pot Caprese Pasta

It truly doesn’t get any easier than this one-pot sensation.

Kale BLT Salad

Thick slab bacon is key to this dish. Buy it packaged, if you can find it, or from the butcher.

Crudités Salad with Farro and Pecans

A texture riot of a salad; it gets crunch and creaminess from toasted pecans and almond butter(!).

Mozzarella-Stuffed Pork Chops

Smoked mozzarella flavors these chops from the inside; an easy cherry tomato pan sauce and creamy polenta round things out.

Ranch Dip with Vegetables

The best thing about making ranch from scratch? If you like a more garlicky or more herby ranch, the choice is yours to adjust the recipe accordingly.

Sweet Pepper Ravioli with Yellow Tomatoes

Sweet bell pepper & roasted chicken ravioli is complemented nicely with a sauce made with yellow tomatoes, garlic, Parmesan cheese and basil. An upscale taste that is still quick and easy.

Purslane and Avocado Tacos with Pico de Gallo

Purslane has long been considered a weed, but it is increasingly showing up for sale in bunches at farmers markets. Meanwhile, Mexicans have known about its healthful properties for hundreds of years and they eat it both raw and cooked. In Mexico it's calledverdolagas. Cooking mellows its tang and shrinks it, which means you can eat more of it! Paired with avocado and a tomato relish, this is a super-healthy vegetarian snack or main dish.

Pan-Seared Chicken with Southwest Corn and Brown & Wild Rice

Serve up a Tex-Mex favorite tonight! With this easy-to-make recipe, lean chicken breasts are enlivened with the flavors of Southwest corn seasoned with poblano and red peppers.

Egg, Kale, and Tomato Breakfast Wraps with Hummus

当玉说,“让我我的早餐三明治,”we know she means this recipe. This is an all-in-one, colorful, hearty wrap that's perfect for making your own. Customize this according to what's in your fridge, swapping spinach for the kale or jarred red bell peppers for the tomatoes. And if you don't have time to poach the eggs, just scramble them instead.

Baby Tomato and Fresh Goat Cheese Salad

This is an early signature dish of my colleague Jonathan Waxman, who has been at the center of the contemporary American food scene since the early 1970s, when he worked at Chez Panisse in Berkeley and at Michael's in Los Angeles. Waxman now presides over Barbuto—he's "the bearded one"—in the far west Greenwich Village, where all- American inclinations meet simple Italian cooking, frequently in the wood- burning oven. Jonathan's cooking has always been defined by its clarity; there are times when I wonder how he has managed to make something as simple as a roasted chicken or a plate of beets seem so special. Top-quality ingredients in season and vigilant preparations are the answers—what I strive for in my own cooking. This dish is a classic example of the early wave of what was known as the New American Cooking—a movement, if not a revolution, now forty years old and counting. It also demonstrates that a new, even trendy, dish can endure and become a classic—if it has integrity. Nevertheless, you can improvise here. Change the herbs according to what you've got, and the oils for the dressing.
