Forget dip: this zesty spiced salt wakes up any sliced raw fruit or veggie—don’t feel limited to the ones listed in the recipe.

Ingredients

Serves 8–10

1 lime
2 tablespoons flaky sea salt
½ teaspoon ancho chile powder
2 oranges, sliced into ¼-inch rounds, rounds halved
5 mini seedless cucumbers, cut into ¼-inch spears
1 bunch of radishes (preferably breakfast), halved
1 large jicama, peeled, cut into ¼-inch-thick slices, half of slices cut into half moons, half moons cut into triangles
  1. Step 1

Finely grate lime zest into a small bowl. Stir in salt and chile powder. Cut lime into wedges.

    Step 2

Arrange crudités on a platter. Squeeze lime juice over, then sprinkle with some spiced salt mixture. Serve remaining spiced salt mixture alongside.

  • 尝试这个w切萝卜,黄瓜棍棒,peas and red pepper sticks. Tasted great but the salt w the lime juice brought water out of the cut veggies, leaving red juice in the tray. Looked messy. Maybe using uncut veggies or drier ones (broccoli, cauliflower...)

  • This is such a great idea, fresh and slightly unusual. This was a major hit at a recentparty. People were hovered around the servicing platter. So healthy, tasty and impressive

  • I loved this idea and this is a keeper with the addition of the spice level punched up. Next time will double both the chili powder and zest. I’m also thinking of trying other combos: lemon pepper salt; tajin & salt; rosemary orange salt; mustard powder & thyme salt, etc.

  • Delicious twist on the crudete concept. I substituted ground aleppo pepper and a tiny pinch of chili powder for the pepper specified in this recipe and it worked out well. It was a hit at my new years party.

  • I made this appetizer last night for a New Year's Eve party to not-such-healthy eaters and good all positive reviews. My recipe was very similar, but had a little more spice added and I'll definitely keep this combination on hand and make ahead, frequently. Here's what I used: 1 large lime (zest used for spice mixture, juice sprinkled over crudités) 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt 1/2 teaspoon chili powder 1/2 teaspoon sumac 2 teaspoons finely chopped cilantro (Not needed in my opinion) Sprinkle zest/spice mixture over crudités and serve. SO fresh and flavorful!
